October 16, 2010 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm At Mission San Juan Capistrano
Tickets will be on sale July 2010
Saturday, October 17, 2009, the Chamber hosted
our 13th annual Vintage, “Farewell to the Swallows” Celebration
within the Mission grounds. At 6 p.m. the gates of the Mission swung open and welcomed everyone to
an unforgettable night. After walking
past the 97 baskets that filled the mission arches, attendees came to the
central courtyard to find 30 restaurants, 24 wineries, 2 beer stations, San
Pelligrino Water and Peet’s Coffee and Tea, all supplied with their best
samplings for everyone to enjoy.
Vicky Carabini, Ambassador to our Sister
City Capestrano,
Italy, complete transformed an entire quad into “Little Italy” filled with
booths serving everything Italian from authentic Italian breads, olive oils,
sausages, and pasta, to wine and even Italian beer! On stage that evening Carabini and Italian
Vice Consolate Roberto Ruocco were presented with a proclamation by the City Council of San Juan Capistrano proclaiming October 2009, as
“Italian-American Heritage Month”.
As the sun set and the moon took its position high in the sky, the
atmosphere at the Mission completely transformed
as the accent purple and green lights highlighted the Mission’s great historic features. Guests filled their appetites and then made
their way to the dance floor where they enjoyed the live music by Grammy
Nominated artist Greg Adams and Band.
It had all the makings of a premier Orange
County event: exquisite food, great
wine, live music, a silent auction and gaming tables, as well as the one thing
only San Juan Capistrano
can provide, the historic backdrop of our Jewel, Missions San Juan
Capistrano.
We are grateful to everyone
who made this event possible: the sponsors, committee members, the generous
restaurants and wineries, everyone who donated to the silent auction, and all
the guests who celebrated our 13th year with us.
